Mason, 83, Davidsville, went to be with his Lord Feb. 27, 2008, at Windber Hospice. Born Aug. 3, 1924, in Belltown, Somerset County, a son of Wilbur and Ruth (Eastman) Mason. Preceded in death by parents; grandsons, Adam and Timothy; and sister, Helen and her husband, Glenn Hoyt. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, the former M. Elaine Shaffer; and these loving daughters, Karen A., married to David Lehman; Davidsville; Dianne L., married to Ernest Holsopple, and Joani M., married to Leslie Holsopple, both of Hollsopple. Also survived by grandchildren, Dale and Tanya, Mark and Robin, Lara and Chad, Tina and Scott, Jen and Shawn, Patty and Matt, Leslie Jay, Eric and Karen, and Beth Ann. Pap will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Keith, Elaine "Lainie," Josh, Schylar, Ian, Maciah, Ryan, Lauren, Trinity, Jonathan, Thomas "Connor," and Jaeden. He is the brother of Leland and wife, Rosella Mason, Davidsville. Also special family friend, Mary Jo Holbay and several Special nieces and nephews. George was a member of St. David's Lutheran Church where he was past council president and involved in different committees. He was the owner and operator of the George E. Mason Funeral Home Inc. in Davidsville since he opened it in 1964. He was a graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1951 and was a member of Somerset County Funeral Directors, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors and National Funeral Directors Associations. He is a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1943. A charter member of the Conemaugh Township Rotary Club where he had perfect attendance for more than 30 years and was past president. A member of the Shriners of North America. He was a past member of the Somerset Kiwanis Club where he was responsible for helping to organize the first Somerset Fall Festival. George was an Army veteran serving in World War II.George enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his Daytona Beach, Fla., home where everyone was welcome. Family will receive friends at his funeral home in Davidsville from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. David's Lutheran Church, Davidsville. The Rev. N. Gregory Van Dyke officiating. Interment will be in the Casebeer Cemetery, Somerset. Those who wish can make donations to Camp PARC, Conemaugh Township Rotary Club, Windber Hospice, or St. David's Lutheran Church.
