Mason, 73, Cameron, W.Va., formerly of Somerset, died Jan. 20, 1996, in Pittsburgh. Born in Meyersdale on Sept. 19, 1922. Preceded in death by parents, Homer J. Mason and Thelma (Smith) Mason, also an infant brother, Jared. Survived by brothers: Homer R. Mason, Pittsburgh, and Richard A. Mason, South Carolina; sisters: Gertrude Lape, Markleton; Leah Teel, Minnesota, and Patricia Woy, Somerset. Retired free-lance food service equipment designer. Graduate of Somerset High School, Class of 1940. Attended Frank Lloyd Wright Architectural School of Design, Taliesin West, at Phoenix, Ariz. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Corps. John was an artist, avid fly fisherman, gourmet cook and had a great love of music and reading. Following cremation, private family memorial services will be held. John will be sadly and affectionately missed and remembered by his beloved family, nieces, nephews, many friends and by his very special friends, Gilulia Mammarino and Ronald Tifke.
