Born on Dec. 18, 1887, in Europe, a son of George and Anna (Hynal) Mastillo. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Kurin, who died March 27, 1960; an infant son, and a son, Charles, 1957; and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Emerick, 1963. Survived by these children: John, married to the former Nora McClemmens of Hollsopple; Ann, wife of Councilman Paul Malinowski of Johnstown; and Nick Jr., married to the former Barbara Galinsky of Hollsopple RD 1, with whom Mr. Mastillo resided. Also, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was one of the organizers of St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Jerome, and S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Boswell. He was a retired coal miner having worked 46 years in local mines. Member of Christ the Savior Cathedral, Johnstown; St. John the Baptist Brotherhood Lodge No. 250, of which he was the secretary since its founding; and local 1040 UMW of A., Johnstown. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell, where prayer service will be held 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services at 9 a.m. Friday at Christ the Savior Cathedral, Johnstown, with the Very Reverend Monsignor John Yurcisin officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
