Mathias, retired B. & O. maintenance crew foreman, died at his home at 600 Broadway Saturday evening, Oct. 25, 1941, at 9:25. He had been in ill health all through the summer, and confined to his bed during the last two or three weeks. At the time of his death his age was 73 years, 3 months and 12 days, having been born in Larimer Township in 1868. He is survived by his wife, Emma F. (Knepp) Mathias, and these children: John Mathias, Moundsville, W.Va.; Herbert Mathias, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Delphia Landis, Meyersdale, and also 15 grandchildren. He served the B. and O. Railroad for many years in the Meyersdale division. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways and was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the home, with Rev. H. K. Hilner, pastor of the Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment was made in the Union Cemetery.
