Maurer, 73, Somerset RD 2, died Jan. 24 in the Somerset Community Hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1914 in Lincoln Twp. son of the late Harry E. and Elsie (Baker) Maurer. Also preceded by step-mothers Pearl Zehner-Maurer and Stella Joyce-Maurer. Survived by his wife the former Anna Berkey and these children: Mrs. Alan L. (Lana Jean) Miller of Somerset; Mrs. Edward R. (Kathleen) Knipple, Simpsonville, S.C.; 4 grandchildren, Melanie and Troy Miller; Scott and Amy Knipple. Step-brother of Floyd Zehner of Confluence and Mrs. Robert (Alverda) Dronenberg, Rockville, Md. Member of Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church. Past member and director of Somerset area school board, past director of Agway, Inc., member of Pa. Farmers Association, past elder and deacon of the former Edie United Church of Christ. Friends received 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Service 1:30 p.m. Wed. at the Christ Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran Church.
