Born July 25, 1904, in Quemahoning Township, Somerset County, son of Robert A. and Edith (Downs) Maurer. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Marion Seese. Survived by widow, the former Mary A. Rhoads; two sisters: Dora and Anna Maurer, Rose Street, Johnstown; also nephew, George Seese Jr.; and two nieces Doris Bell and Eleanor Kaufman. Member of Horner Lutheran Church and past church councilman. Charter member of Pa. Farmers Association; treasurer of Horner-Mt. Tabor Cemetery Association; retired Jenner Township farmer. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, 227 Allegheny St., Boswell. Body will be removed to Horner Church for viewing from 10 a.m. Monday until time of service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Richard A. Schlak officiating. Interment, Horner-Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
