Maust, 74, Huckleberry Highway, Berlin, died Jan. 15, 2001 at home. Born Oct. 5, 1926 in Stonycreek Township, son of the late Donald and Irene (Felten) Maust. Survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Olive Ash and these children: Pat Knapik and friend, Matt Vandervoort of Ridgecrest, Calif.; Gloria and friend, Paul Gaudlip, Somerset; Marsha Webreck and friend, Don Buday Johnstown; Barb George, Frostburg, Md.; Jerry, married to the former Ellen Paglario, Wallingford, Conn.; Ryan married to the former Brenda Hill, Listie; Brain married to the former Barbara Gnagy, Somerset and Christ married to the former Lisa Garvin, Avela. Also 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mary Margaret Forespring, Meyersdale. A 1944 graduate of Berlin-Brothersvalley High School. A World War II Marine veteran and Korean War Army veteran. Retired postmaster from Berlin. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, where he was a past Sunday school superintendent and council member. Life member and commandant of Detachment 660 Marine Corps League. Life member and chaplain of Berlin American Legion Post 445; life member of VFW Post 554, Somerset. Member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department; Berlin IOOF Lodge; Last Man's Club; Harmonaires; Mountain Field and Stream Club; and New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club. Member and chaplain of Somerset-Cambria Fire Police. Past president of Shanksville-Stonycreek School Board. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin. Rev. Melvin A. Kirk Jr. officiating. Interment, Berlin IOOF cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, Pa., 15530 or the charity of your choice.
