Maust, died at her home in Salisbury at about 9:00 a.m., Friday, September 29th, of coronary occlusion. She was born in Garrett County, Md., on March 8, 1866, the daughter of Eli and Harriet (Broadwater) Stanton, and was aged 78 years, 6 months and 21 days. Her father was the owner and operator of the Little Crossings Mills near Grantsville. She is survived by her husband and two children, Florence, wife of A. E. Livengood, and Bayard S. Maust, both of Salisbury, and three grandchildren, Mrs. Josef Tressler of Indianapolis, Ind., and Elizabeth Jane and Patricia Ann Maust, and one brother, J. U. Stanton of Grantsville. Mr. and Mrs. Maust were married at Grantsville, Md., October 1, 1889. by Rev. John Evans, and would have celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary last Sunday, had she lived two days longer. All her life, Mrs. Maust was a faithful member of the Reformed Church and took an active interest in all church work. She was a member of Great Crossings chapter, D.A.R., the Meyersdale Garden Club, and the Salisbury Priscilla Club. She was interested in all things of a civic nature, and until her health began to fail about fifteen years ago, took an active and leading part. Mrs. Maust was a beautiful, gracious and friendly lady, and will be long remembered for her personal charm and unfailing kindness. She was always a great lover of flowers, and raised many prize blooms in her own garden. For many years, all school and church affairs in the community were graced with beautiful bouquets, her gift for the enjoyment of others. It was fitting that one who so loved flowers and was so successful in propagating and improving them, should have such a wealth of flowers contributed by devoted friends as surrounded her bier. It was noticed many of the beautiful floral offerings were made of her favorite varieties. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday, October 2nd, at 3:00 p.m., with her pastor, Rev. Ira S. Monn, officiating. Interment was in charge of mortician Stanley M. Thomas, in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The very high esteem in which Mrs. Maust was held not only in her home town, but also outside her home community, is attested by the large number of friends and relatives who called at the Maust home to pay their respect and offer condolence, and to attend the funeral services.
