Born March 16, 1926, in Meyersdale, Pa., she is a daughter of the late Lewis C. and Annie (Yoder) Bender. She is preceded in death by two sons, David Lewis, husband of Shirley (Kemp) Maust, Grantsville, Md., and Joseph Lee Maust and one sister, Ella Dorcas Maust. She is survived by her husband, Paul A. Maust; three sons, Paul Irvin Maust, Carrollton, Texas; Ezra Allen Maust, Mount Airy, Md.; Jonathan Mark Maust, Dover, Del.; four daughters, Rachel Matilda Maust and Naomi Ellen Maust, both of Harrisonville: Alma Ann, wife of Dale Eby, Dundee, N.Y.; Esther Marie, wife of Richard Beitzel, Meyersdale; one brother, Martin Lewis Bender, Bronx, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Lela accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth and was a member of Dry Run Mennonite Church at the time of her death. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, Md. Service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dry Run Mennonite Church. The Rev. Leonard Orendorf Sr. and the Rev. Keith Yoder officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed for Missions and Christian School Education or Hospice of Garrett County.
