Although it was known she could not live, hope lived on, as she had so bravely come through so many serious illnesses. Mrs. Maust had been a home-body for many years, and for many years a shut-in, only going to the hospital when it was necessary. She attracted to her many friends by her pleasing personality. The day never passed that some one did not drop in, if only for a moment, for a few words, and seldom did any one leave without receiving a little offering, if only a cookie. A heart for all the world has ceased to beat. The writer knew her well and never heard an unkind word pass her lips, and to have some news for the Meyersdale Republican was a great joy to her. She passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 1940, at 7:25 a.m., at her home. She was born in Fort Hill April 22, 1863, and was aged 77 years, 4 months and 8 days. She was the daughter of the late Mary A. Jamison. Nearly all her life was spent in Ursina. Surviving are two daughters and three sons, all of whom gave her the utmost care and the most unswerving love and devotion. They are Mrs. Mary Kelly of Bayard, W.Va.; Mrs. Elva Wells and Orville Maust, Ursina; Sheldon and Melvin, at home. One son, Ferling, died in infancy. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband, George Maust, passed away almost three years ago, whose passing she bore bravely, but missing him most keenly. Funeral services were held at her home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. O. Martin of the Methodist Church, who made frequent calls on her during her invalid days, had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. N. H. Sanner, of Dormont and Ursina. Burial followed in the Ursina Cemetery in charge of Charles Humbert. Meyersdale Republican, September 5, 1940
