Born April 3, 1923, in Grantsville, Md., he is a son of the late Allen J. and Alma J. (Miller) Maust. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lela; two sons, David Lewis, husband of Shirley (Kemp) Maust, Grantsville; Joseph Lee; and three sisters, Rhoda (infant) and Mabel Maust and Catherine Sommers. He was married on June 16, 1946 to Lela Virginia Bender at the Oak Dale Mennonite Church near Salisbury. He is survived by three sons, Paul Ivan, Carrollton, Texas; Ezra Allen, Mount Airy, Md.; Jonathan Mark, Dover, Del.; four daughters, Rachel Matilda and Naomi Ellen, both of Harrisonville; Alma Ann, wife of Dale Eby, Dundee, N.Y.; Esther Marie, wife of Richard Beitzel, Meyersdale, Pa.; brother, Jonas, Walnut Creek, Ohio; three sisters, Barbara Barnhart, Dover, Del.; Miriam Kemp, Upala de Alajuela, Costa Rica; and Martha, Plain City, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Paul accepted Christ as his Savior in his youth and was a member of the Bittinger Mennonite Church at the time of his death. He was a life long salesman, a retired dairy farmer and for many years did custom farm work. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A.,179 Miller Street, Grantsville, Md. A service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bittinger Mennonite Church, 10707 Bittinger Road, Bittinger, Md. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Expressions of sympathy may be directed for Missions, Christian School Education, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) Research, or Hospice of Garrett County.
