Maust, born in Garrett County, Md., in 1877, on what was then known as the Smith farm, now a portion of the farm owned by the Misses Ada and Eva Maust, about 3 miles south of Salisbury, Pa. She died very suddenly at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Miller, in Salisbury, at 5:00 a.m., Sunday, March 2, 1941, at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 6 days. She had been suffering a long time from hardening of the arteries, but yet was able to do housework until a few weeks ago, when she came to the home where she died, and during her stay there was confined to bed. A paralytic stroke ended all her suffering. Miss Maust was a daughter of the late James and Louise (Miller) Maust, who lived the greater portion of their lives within a mile of Salisbury, where Miss Surie grew to womanhood. For the last 18 years preceding her death, she kept house for her brother, Edward, a resident of Summit Township, who had been left a widower with one child, by the death of his wife. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Brethren, and had many friends, because of her noble character. She is survived by two brothers and one sister, namely, Edward, of Summit Township; Emma, wife of Norbert Miller, and John, both of Salisbury. Funeral was held Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m., and the services were conducted by Rev. A. Jay Replogle of Salisbury. Interment was in the Salisbury I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas of Salisbury. Meyersdale Republican, March 6, 1941
