Born Sept. 7, 1923, in Elk Lick Township, the son of the late John R. and Eleanor Grace (Thomas) Maust. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Dunham) Maust, Jan 12, 2001, and one brother, James Maust. Surviving are two brothers, Denver Maust, Akron, Ohio, and Leroy Maust, Salisbury; one sister, Isabel Scheffel, Quarryville, and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Milwaukee School of Engineering as a refrigeration, heating and air conditioning technician and was employed at Frigidaire in that capacity. He retired from General Motors Corp. after 28 years service as a Senior Service Engineer. Mr. Maust was a member of Rock Moriah Lodge 740, Free & Accepted Masons, serving as Worshipful Master in 1965. He was very active in a number of Masonic related organizations and was honored with his selection as Right Eminent Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Ohio in 1997. He was also a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason with Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, as well as a member of Antioch Shrine. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having served in the China-Burma-India Theatre. He was a member of Salisbury American Legion, Post 459. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, where services will be conducted on at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Daniel Whitacre officiating. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Salisbury American Legion Post 459. Meyersdale Lodge 554, F.& A.M. will hold a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.newmanfuneralhomes.com.
