(Kaufman) May, 91, Patriot Manor, formerly of Davidsville, died Oct. 5, 1997, at the manor. Born Aug. 26, 1906, in Conemaugh Township, daughter of John N. and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Kaufman. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Harvey in 1957; sisters: Luella Berkey, Edna Miltenberger, Grace Kaufman and Kathryn Hoffman; brothers: Leon W., the Rev. Ralph E. and the Rev. Martin L. Survived by son, Arthur James May, married to the former Norma Perez, Davidsville; two granddaughter: Amy, wife of Thomas Musselman, Virginia Beach, Va., and Tina wife of Wayne Alexander, Johnstown, and three great-grandchildren: Kayla, Riley and Colby Alexander. Sister of Mary Knesche, Hazel Mishler, Mildred Liska, John H., married to Majorie Lantz, and James W., married to Lillian Binnie, all of Boswell RD; Daisy Kocher, Johnstown; Harry F., married to Yvonne Heckler, Lakewood, N.J.; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Longtime member of St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davidsville, where she was in the choir for many years. She was a public school teacher for approximately 45 years, having taught English at Conemaugh Township Area High School, Davidsville, for 27 years, retiring in 1972. Avid world traveler and enjoyed music with her family, having been in singing group withg sister Grace, Hazel and Katie for many years. A private family service will be held today (Tuesday) at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell. Interment, Jenner Crossroad Cemetery. Daily American, October 7, 1997 [M0554]
