May, 73, Somerset RD 5, formerly of Acosta, died Feb. 23 in Somerset Community Hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1898, in Humbert, a son of the late Charles and Jennie Ohler May. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Phillippi May, Somerset RD 5; three sons, John, Somerset RD 3; Earl, Dearborn, Mich.; Orville, Taylor, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Donahue, Stoystown; Mrs. Sadie Thompson, Romulus, Mich.; Mrs. Gladys Smith, Somerset RD 3. Also by two brothers, Harry, Markleton RD 1; Wilbur, Markleton; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Tressler, Markleton RD 1; Mrs. Mary King, Markleton; Mrs. Ida Pletcher, Markleton RD 1; Mrs. Ethel Spiker, Markleton RD 1; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of the United Mine Workers. Local 5287 of Quecreek; the Somerset Church of God and the Men's Bible Class. Funeral service was conducted Feb. 27 in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, the Rev. Jack A. McClure officiating. Interment in the Somerset County Memorial Park. Meyersdale Republican, March 2, 1972 [M0588]
