Mayak, 69, Stoystown, died May 25, 2004, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 9, 1935, in Hooversville, son of Samuel Simon and Elizabeth (Kosnosky) Mayak. Preceded in death by parents; granddaughter, Chelsea; sisters: Ann Gavlak and Josephine Behrbom and brother, John. Survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Shirley Benny; children: Michelle, Somerset; Frank P. married to the former Tamara Miller, Stoystown; and Tricia married to Michael Scott Barron, Hooversville; and grandchildren: Alex and Olivia Mayak, Evan and Elissa Barron. Brother of Mary Sauer, New York City; Christine Polenik, Alverda; Andy, Stoystown; Sam, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Margaret Pitlo, Longview, Wash.; Joseph and Helen Mauger, both of Cleveland; and Johanna Sarver, St. Thomas. Graduate of Forbes High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Stoystown Auto Wreckers. Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset, and Trout Unlimited. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset. The Rev. Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli officiating. Committal Holy Family Cemetery, Hooversville.
