Mayernik, 83, of Somerset, formerly of Greensburg, died Oct. 7, 2003. Born March 3, 1920, in Trauger. Son of the late John and Pauline (Dernir) Mayernik. Was a member of St. Peter's Church in Somerset and formerly of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg. A veteran of W.W.II having served in the U.S. Army. A member of Westmoreland Homestead VFD Club, Slovak American Beneficial and Sportsmen's Club, Hempfield Township Roosevelt Club and AARP. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Conrail for 40 years. Preceded in death by three sisters, Julia, Pauline and Sadie. Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Rusinko); and three daughters, Romayne Hunter of Greensburg, Connie Burick and husband Jordan of LaPlata, Md., and Janis Wooley and husband Fred of Somerset; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary, Anna Mondock, Magdalen, Veronica and Catherine Kubina; three brothers, Andrew, Thomas and Albert; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home in Norvelt. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 Friday in Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg.
