Edgar Mayner, died at her home in Ashland, O., January 9, 1948. Her death was due to coronary thrombosis. She had been in bed not quite a week because of high blood pressure, but the condition of her heart was not known. She slept quietly away Friday afternoon while a friend sat at her bedside, in the absence of the nurse, who was away one hour. Bertha Gnagey was born in Meyersdale, January 5, 1881, the daughter of the late Rev. A. D. and Fannie (Livengood) Gnagey. Her father was the first pastor of the Main Street Brethren Church. For many years, he was one of the outstanding ministers and leaders of the Brethren denomination, serving as pastor here, in Pittsburgh and Altoona, and as editor of the Brethren Church publications in Ashland, O. Both parents died about 10 years ago in Ashland where they lived in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mayner, after Rev. Gnagey retired from active ministry. Besides her husband, who has been in ill health for a number of years, Mrs. Mayner is survived by one son, Joseph, of Shelby, O., and one granddaughter. A daughter, Emily, preceded her in death. Also surviving are one sister, Emily B. Gnagey of Albany, N.Y., and two brothers, F. Emerson Gnagey of Ashland, O., and Theodore Gnagey of South Orange, N.J. Funeral services, conducted at the Mayner home, January 12, were largely attended. Mrs. Maynor had many loving and admiring friends. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church and took an active part in social and cultural circles in Ashland. She was a niece of the editor emeritus of the Meyersdale Republican, William S. Livengood, Sr. Meyersdale Republican, February 12, 1948
