He was born Sept. 28, 1932, at Meyersdale, where he was raised and educated. After his schooling, he worked the family farm until entering the U.S. Army in 1952, where he served in Germany until 1955. After his military service, he lived in the Akron, Ohio area, where he met and married Rhoda Faye Shultz on Nov. 26, 1955, at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. They later moved to Boise in 1983, where they owned and operated Little Bit Junction Trains and Hobby Store. Roger was a member of the Mountain View Church of the Brethren. Survivors include his wife, Rhoda Mazer, of Boise, Idaho; one brother, John Mazer, of Ligonier, Ind.; four sisters: Anna Lou Kerschensteiner, of Boise, Idaho; Jane Shultz, of Meyersdale; Mary Alice Jackson, of Mesa, Ariz.; and Marjorie Schardt, of York; and numerous nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one nephew. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at the Cloverdale Funeral Home. The Rev. Martin Gauby, of the Mountain View Church of the Brethren, and the Rev. Ed Kerschensteiner, of the Boise Valley Church of the Brethren officiated. Interment, Cloverdale Memorial Park.
