McAchren, 78, Somerset Pike, Hollsopple RD, died April 11, 2003, at UPMC Lee Regional, Johnstown. Born May 12, 1924, in Johnstown, son of Leo and Mathilde (Sann) McAchren. Preceded in death by parents and five sisters and brothers. Survived by wife, the former Jacqueline J. Litzinger; children, Cheryl, wife of James Connor, Darragh, LouAnne Mimna, Johnstown, Nedra, wife of John Ridilla, Westmont, Wesley, married to Suzanne Shiley, Dumfries, Va., and Amy Jo Bowser, Somerset; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois DeArmey, Mishawak, Ind.; and brother, Marlin, Warrenton, Va. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a demolition specialist with Co. B., and 241st Engineer Combat Battalion. Observed 51st wedding anniversary Feb. 17, 2003. Member of the Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, Jennerstown, where he served as deacon. Retired employee of the former Johnstown Works, U.S. Steel Corp., with 41 years service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle. Pastors C.J. Ickes and Gary Anderson officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery with graveside military rites in charge of Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 168 W.
