McCarter, Newville RD 1, died March 6, at home. Born in Meyersdale, she was a daughter of Mrs. E. Josephine (Browning) Englehart, Meyersdale, and the late Alvin C. Englehart. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Newville; a past president and member of its Women's Association, vice president of the Church Women United and secretary of the Cumberland County American Red Cross. Mrs. McCarter graduated from Meyersdale High School in 1943, and from Gettysburg College in 1947. She taught English in the Big Spring School District, 1959-64, and was active in Girl Scouting for many years. Surviving besides her husband and mother are four daughters: Mrs. Robert Robinson, New Haven, Conn.; Patricia, student at Penn State University; Anne and Jane, at home. She was a sister of Mrs. Ruth Hussey, Lebanon, Ill.; Mrs. Eloise Critchfield, Worthington, Pa.; and William N., of Worthington, Ohio. A memorial service was held Wednesday evening at First United Presbyterian Church, Newville, with Rev. Stanley Ray and Rev. John Peterson officiating. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale, this (Thursday) afternoon at two o'clock under the direction of Frank C. Egger Funeral Home, Newville. Graveside service will be held by Rev.
