Born in Morgantown on January 20, 1959, he was a son of James and Katie McCartney of Morgan-town. In addition to his parents, John is survived by sisters: Catherine Bush, York; Susan Pearce, Wayne; brothers: James Amos McCartney, Bethesda, Md.; and David Dean McCartney, Winston-Salem, N.C. John's caring and concern for others made many friends wherever he went. His kindness will be greatly missed. Friends were received at Dering's Funeral Home in Morgantown on Sunday where funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, with the Rev. Aslam Barkat and Rev. M. Steven Meadows officiating. A private graveside service followed at the Sansom Chapel Cemetery, Farmington, under the direction of the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, with the Rev.
