E. McCartney, on February 4, at 3:45 a.m. Mrs. McCartney, a daughter of John and Savina (Dean) Stark, was born in Fayette County on November 15, 1858. She was preceded in death by her husband, George McCartney, who died in 1902. Surviving are eight sisters, Mrs. E. S. McCullough of Wilkinsburg, Mrs. Margaret McCullough of Farmington, Mrs. Alice Holt of Ohiopyle, Mrs. J. W. Rush of Addison, Mrs. Martha Straw of Addison, Miss Bernice Stark, Farmington, Mrs. Bina Skewis of McKeesport and Mrs. J. E. McCartney of Meyersdale, and one brother, C. H. Stark, of Struthers, Ohio. Services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Sansom Methodist Church, near Farmington, of which she was a life member. Rev. Virgil R. Gillum was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. H. C. Buterbaugh. Interment was made in the Sansom Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price and Son, local morticians.
