McCarty, who died Sunday morning, October 5, at his home in Akron, Ohio, were held in Akron last Tuesday evening, at 7:30 o'clock at the Billow Chapel. The Christian Science ritual was conducted by William Zuendel. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin, Pa., Rev. F. D. Witmer, pastor of the Garrett Reformed Church charge officiating. Mr. McCarty was born in Pittsburgh, November 11, 1888, came to Garrett in 1912 when the "low grade" of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was being constructed. Several years later he was married to Edna Custer McCarty, who survives. They moved from Garrett to Akron, where he was employed by the B. F. Goodrich Rubber Company and remained for 30 years. He was a member of the Yusef-Kahn Grotte and Akron Lodge, F. & A.M. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Paula; two sisters, Miss L. S. McCarty and Mrs. J. A. Lee, both of Pittsburgh, and a brother, Wilford, of Louisville, Ky. He was the son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. William McCreery, and the brother-in-law of Mrs. and Mrs. W. J. Bryan Merrill, who left for Akron Sunday to attend the funeral services. Meyersdale Republican, October 16, 1947
