He had been in failing health and despondent for some time. His wife went to the barn after breakfast to milk the cows. When she returned to the house about 9 a.m., she found her husband's dead body lying on the floor where he had fallen after he had shot himself, with the gun lying beside him. Deputy Coroner C. S. Beck of Rockwood made an investigation and reported that McClintock evidently was killed by his own hand. McClintock is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dora McClintock, and eight children - Victor, Maurice, Evan, Hillery, Everett, Myron and Viola McClintock and Mrs. Ray Mitchell. Funeral services were under the direction of Mortician C. B. Humbert of Confluence, with burial in the Silbaugh Cemetery in Addison Twp. Meyersdale Republican, November 9, 1944
