McCubbin, 56, 409 Catherine St., Bloomsburg, died Oct. 11, 1978 in the garage at his home. Death was due to natural causes. Born in Glasgow, Ky., he was a son of the late Leslie and Marion Richey McCubbin. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, and of the church council. He earned his bachelors degree in sociology and speech from Marshall College in Huntington, W.Va., and his masters degree in dramatic arts from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He taught at Marshall College for 17 years before coming to Bloomsburg. McCubbin was an assistant professor of speech communications and theatre arts at Bloomsburg State College since August 1965. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring as a major. His survivors include his wife of 30 years, Elaine Speicher McCubbin; one son, Jeffrey Allen, Charlottesville, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Jane) Sheridan, Lafayette, Ind., and Mrs. Fred (Mary Beth) Carlin, State College; one sister, Elizabeth Perry, Bradenton, Fla.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held from St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, the Rev. E. Gordon Ross officiating. Burial was at the convenience of the family in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, under the direction of the William S. Elwell Funeral Home, Bloomsburg. The Republic, October 19, 1978 [M0773]
