He was born Nov. 30, 1955, in Somerset, a son of Donna (Morrison) McCulley, Confluence, and the late Grant L. McCulley. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife, Virginia; his beloved stepdaughter, Dott (Merryman) Johnson and her husband Joel, Westminster, Md.; brother, Larry, Confluence; sisters, Connie Hummel and husband, John, Garrett; Diann Stark and husband, James; Vicki Williams and husband, Rodney; and Caroline Klinkner and husband, Vincent, all of Confluence; two nieces, three nephews and a great-nephew. Also surviving are sister-in-law Linda Brashear and husband, Milton, Uniontown; and brother-in-law, Duane R. Clark, Confluence; two step-nephews; and a step niece. He is a graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley Area High School. Among other jobs, Michael most recently worked as a carpenter for many years for his friend, Robert Leonard of Leonard Contracting in Somerset. He was a member of the Turkeyfoot Fish and Game Association and spent much of his free time out-doors fishing and hunting. His last 8-point buck was harvested on opening day of deer season in 2004. Mike liked planting trees and gardening, giving much of his produce to friends and family. He loved wildlife and was often seen caring for the birds, deer, and squirrels that surrounded his home. He also liked spending time with his little beagle, Buddy Duane, who is also an avid rabbit hunter. A friend to all, Mike will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched with his kindness and gentle-ness, and for giving us inspiration. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, the hour of service at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence. The Rev. Linda Dinger officiating. They along with the staff at Somerset Oncology, helped so much with Mike's care and to ease the heartache of our last year. My Dearest Mike, Gentle soul I think of you, loving, kind and true.
