McDonald, 81, of Bristolville, Ohio, died May 30, 1982 in Fort Myers, Fla. Born in Barton, he was a son of the late John James McDonald and Mary Jane (Miller) McDonald. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge, was a graduate of the University of Maryland and performed post-graduate studies at Cornell University and the University of Wisconsin. During the 1920s, he served as principal and teacher at the old Grantsville High School. A dedicated conservationist, he worked for the Ohio State Soil Conservation Service from its inception in Trumbell County until his retirement in 1970. He is survived by his widow, Florence (Norton) McDonald; a son, William N. McDonald, Athens, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Louise Oehler, Reston, Va., and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted June 27 in Bristolville. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to favorite churches or charities. The Republic, June 24, 1982 [M0795]
