Some weeks ago he went to Akron, Ohio, where he lived at one time, and while there met a man named F. E. Corwin, whom he induced to accompany him to Meyersdale, they arrived here about one o'clock on Saturday night and at once they to the McGairy home and being tired out went to bed immediately. Neither awakened until 10 o'clock the next morning when Corwin went down stairs first and in a half hour, Gairy (McGairy?) came down. Neither of the men was in a talkative mood and but little was said. But McGairy seemed to be all right then. Mr. McGairy loitered around a short time down stairs and then re-ascended the stairs going to his bed. When a half hour later Mr. Corwin went upstairs he found that McGairy was prostrate on the bed and from his lethargic appearance he thought all was not well with him and on trying to arouse found that his efforts were futile. He at once gave notice to those in that neighborhood of the condition of his companion and Dr. Lichty, Officer Bittner and Jos. L. Tressler went to the house and the doctor pronounced the man dead. He had been drinking quite heavily and nothing suspicious regarded concerning his death. About one month ago Mrs. McGairy with whom he lived died. A ten year old daughter survives. There are two houses left of the estate, those next to the bridge, although they are somewhat encumbered. The funeral was held on Wednesday under the charge of Rev. Ira S. Monn, Elk Lick. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Salisbury. Meyersdale Commercial, Oct. 7, 1915 [NOTE: See obit on Marie McGARY - although neither obit mentions the spouses first name and the last names are spelled differently both obits mention Center Street, having one daughter who survives and Marie's death was about a month ago. Although I have no proof I suspect Marie is Michael's wife.]ap
