Born in Grantsville, Md., he was a son of the late Henry McKenzie and Ellen (Folk) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was an area coal miner for 26 years and was a production worker for Harbison-Walker Refractories for 22 years. He was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Mary R. (Wiley) McKenzie; three sons, Harley McKenzie, Jr. and Robert L. McKenzie, both of Grantsville, Md.; Ronald L. McKenzie, Elkins W.Va., two daughters, Mrs. Betty Maust, Grantsville, Md.; Mrs. Patty Carver, Cumberland, Md.; a brother, Roy McKenzie, North Industry, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Zimmerman, Uniontown; Mrs. Mabel Green, Cowen W.Va., and Mrs. Nellie Kinsinger, Confluence; 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Services were conducted at Maranatha Church with the Rev. William Ferguson and Rev. Dewayne Johnson officiating. Interment was in Grantsville Cemetery.
