McKerahan, 82, of Springs died Jan 4, 1978, in Shelby, N.C. She was born May 26, 1895, in Elk-Lick Township, a daughter of the late Demetrius and Fannie Stotler Compton. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. McKerahan. Survived by two sons: Compton of Portland Or.; and Paul R. of Cherokee N.C.; also one sister, Mrs. Carl Hoffman of Pittsburgh and three grandchildren; Robert, Terri, and Diana. She was a member of St. Paul's Wilhelm United Church of Christ; member of Salisbury American Legion Auxiliary; and a member of the Fifth Society of Farm Women. She was a retired school teacher and taught in various schools in Garrett County, Md. and Elk-Lick Township for 42 years. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Church of Christ with the Rev. Lloyd E. Sechriest officiating. Interment, St. Paul's Cemetery. The body will lie in state in the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Legion auxiliary memorial service will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends will be received at the Thomas Funeral Home in Salisbury on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until noon. Daily American, January 7, 1978 [M0929]
