Stirl McLaughlin, 79, Meyersdale RD 3, died Feb. 5, 1989, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was born May 17, 1909, in Dunmore, W.Va., son of the late Russell and Hattie (Moore) McLaughlin. Also preceded in death his wife, the former Alma V. Arklie, and two sisters, Virginia Gore and Laura Dill. Survived by a son John R., Meyersdale RD 3, and a grandson, Corey. A brother of: Ellis of Archer City, Texas; Mrs. Mae Diveley and Mrs. Myrtle Bittner, both of Meyersdale RD 3. A veteran of U.S. Army, World War II. Member of New Hope United Church of Christ where he served on the Consistory; member of American Legion Post 112. Owned and operated a grocery store in Pocahontas for 36 years. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wed. with the Rev. LaMar Bender officiating.
