Born Aug. 3, 1928, in Vandergrift, Pa., son of the late Oscar William and Leona Mae (Bauer) McNaul. Also preceded in death by a brother, Richard. Survived by his wife, the former Patricia Ann Beal; and these children: Mrs. L. Randall (Susan Joyce) Cober, Morgantown, W.Va., Mrs. Kerry D. (Gayle) Knepper, Markleton RD 1; John Eliot, Somerset RD 1; James William, Norfolk, Va.; and one grandson, Travis Cober. Brother of Mrs. George E. (Beverly) Bender, State College. Principal of Somerset Area Elementary Schools. Veteran and first lieutenant, U.S. Army, Korean War. A 1952 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and in 1960 received his M.S. from the University of Pittsburgh. Member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Pennsylvania and National Associations of Elementary School Principals, Ligonier Lodge F.& A.M., board member Somerset and Cambria County Chapter of American Red Cross, American Legion Post 181, membership chairman of Penns Woods Council Boy Scouts of America, past member of Meyersdale and Somerset Rotary clubs, also member of National Rifle Association and Somerset PTA. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harry C. Sherry officiating. Private interment at the Pine Hall Cemetery, State College. Family suggests contributions to the Somerset Cambria Chapter of the American Red Cross, Calvary United Methodist Church or the Somerset Hospital "In Touch" (Hospice) Program.
