McNelly, 78, of 345 Bowlby St., Waynesburg, formerly of Cross Creek, died Oct. 27, 1993, at Greene County Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Burgettstown, son of the late John P. and Elizabeth (Thomas) McNelly. He was a member of the Cross Creek United Presbyterian Church. Founder and president of the McNelly Transportation and Central Cab Company in Waynesburg. Survived by his wife, Ruth (Smith) McNelly, who he married July 29, 1938; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Dudash of Moon Township; a son, John L. (Jack) McNelly of Waynesburg; also two grandchildren, three sisters: Mrs. Charles (Jane) Schrock of Berlin, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Long of San Francisco, Calif.; Edith Coleman of Donegal, and one brother, William G. McNelly of Somerset. Preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Snyder. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Milliken and Phrockmorton Funeral Home, 197 North Maiden St. Waynesburg, and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cross Creek United Presbyterian Church, the Rev. John E. Adams and Rev. David Barrett officiating. Interment, Cross Creek Cemetery. Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 will have a memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday.
