"Slim" II 10/14/08 Daily American Lester R. "Slim" McNutt II, 58, Hooversville, died Oct. 12, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Jan. 31, 1950, in Somerset County. The son of the late Lester R. and Susan (Wable) McNutt Griffith. Survived by wife of 36 years, the former Deborah A. Weidman; sons, Jeremy and companion, Emily Shean, Hooversville, and Patrick R., Hooversville; grandson, Keagan McNutt; brother, Samuel A., married to Donna Williams, Harrisburg; sisters in- law, Mary Jean, married to Dennis Overly, Akron, Pa., and Sheila Weidman, Canada; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1968 graduate of the former Jenner-Boswell High School and a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. Retired revenue agent for the Pa. State Treasury Department. He was the owner and operator of Phoenix Management Accounting Services. Former member of Boswell Area Jaycees and a past president and board member of the Somerset Conservation District, chairman of the Water Resources Committee for the Southern Alleghenies Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D), board member and chairman of the Stonycreek-Conemaugh River Improvement Project, (SCRIP), president of the Pa. Council of Trout Unlimited, treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic RC&D Council, former state federation representative for the Somerset County Sportsmen's League, co-chairman of the PA Council of Trout Unlimited's Environmental Committee, chairman of the feasibility committee for the public acquisition of the Manufacturer's Water Co. properties. Current member of Hooversville Borough Council, Hooversville Game Protective Association, Mountain Laurel Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Jenner Rod & Gun Club, board member of Southern Alleghenies Conservancy and hunter trapper education instructor for the Pa. Game Commission. He was also very active in democratic politics and an avid hunter, fisherman and NASCAR fan. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Beulah United Methodist Church, 433 Bicycle Road, Friedens. The Rev. Brenda Shaffer, officiating.
