McPhail, a well-known and highly esteemed citizen of Boynton for many years, died at his home in that village, last Sunday at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 2 days. He was a native of Boston, Mass. His parents were natives of Scotland. His death was caused by a pulmonary embolism, which followed a fall he had two days earlier, resulting in a broken hip. Mr. McPhail was a coppersmith, which trade he followed in the earlier years of his life. He came to this locality from Hartford, Mich. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Susan Lint before their marriage; also by a son, a daughter and a brother. The son and daughter are Gordon B. McPhail, California, and Mrs. Winifred Case, Colona, Mich.; the brother is Archie McPhail of Landsdowne, Pa. The funeral services were conducted at the McPhail home, Boynton, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Ira S. Monn, pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Salisbury, of which Mr. McPhail was a faithful member. He was also a member of Florence Lodge F. & A. M., of Hartford, Mich., and of Lawrence Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, of Lawrence, Mich. Local members of the Masonic fraternity acted as pallbearers. Interment was in the Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas, Salisbury mortician. Meyersdale Republican, July 29, 1943
