His death followed an illness of several months' duration due to various ailments. Mr. McQuade had been a patient in the Windber Hospital for more than a month and was regaining his strength when a setback took place. His condition was thought to be much improved last Sunday afternoon, and he was removed to his home. Surviving are his widow and five children, Leon, Paul, Gilbert, Mary and Flora, all at home. The body was prepared for burial by Johnson & Son, funeral directors of Berlin. Rev. C. P. Bastian was the officiating minister at the funeral on Thursday afternoon at Mt. Zion cemetery. The Male Quartet of the Berlin Lutheran Church rendered several numbers. Mr. McQuade was a farmer by occupation, a law abiding, and industrious citizen. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Berlin and was superintendent of the Sunday School of the Mt. Zion Congregation in Allegheny Township. At the age of 41, he had already done much work of great value to the community in which he lived and it was with the greatest of sadness that his friends learned of his premature death. Robert McQuade, a brother of the deceased, was attending summer school at California State Teachers' College, and upon notification immediately returned to Berlin. A sister of the late Mr. McQuade resides in Florida and was unable to come to the funeral. Meyersdale Republican, July 10, 1930
