Born May 21, 1937, in Greenville Township, son of Reid and Emma (Dietle) Meese. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Harold Meese; and sister, Alverta McKenzie. Survived by wife, the former Lois M. Clark, to whom he was married 47 years; children, David Meese, married to the former Renee Schultz, Mars; and Mrs. Edward (Natalie) Lyons, Somerset; grandchildren, Nicole Hersh, McKenzie and Max Meese, Steven, Derrek and Matheu Lyons; twin brother, Dale Meese and wife, JoAnn, Salisbury; and sister, Dorothy Woodson, Texas. A 1955 graduate of Meyersdale High School and a graduate of Pennsylvania Bankers Trust School. Former member of the Somerset School Board and the Somerset Recreational Board. In earlier years, he drove an ambulance locally. He worked for Somerset Trust Co. as senior vice president and senior trust officer until his retirement in 2002 with 31 years of service and 46 years in the banking business. Also a lifetime member of Somerset Volunteer Fire Department where he served as financial Secretary for many years, member of the Somerset Hospital Board of Directors, active member and past president of Somerset Rotary Club. Don was also a member of Roof Garden Barbershop chorus and the Desert Sounds Barbershop Chorus of Casa Grande, Ariz. He was also a member of the Union and Ankney Square Cemetery Boards. He was in charge of the Somerset Trust Antique Car Show and was a member of the Studebaker Car Club. Also former chairman of the 219 zoning board. Don became an immersed believer in Christ in 1961 and was an active member of Roof Garden Christian Church where he was an elder since 1988. He was also a very committed donor of aphoresis at the American Red Cross in Johnstown. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. A service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday at Roof Garden Christian Church, Somerset. The Rev. Roy Worsham officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
