She suffered from various ailments at different times during the last fifteen years, and more than once during that time there was little hope of her recovery. However, she had a wonderful tenacity of life, and bore her afflictions with Christian fortitude. During the last few years she was bedfast much of the time, and at times suffered from high blood pressure and heart ailment, and finally a paralytic stroke ended her earthly career. She reached the good age of 79 years, last April, but within the last week she was siezed with the premonition that death was near, and the evening before she died she kneeled at her bedside before she retired for the night and prayed for death to come. Her last words were affectionately expressed to her aged husband, Chauncey Meese, who survives her at the age of more than four score years, and still enjoys good health, and gets about well; but during the last few years spent most of his time with the faithful wife and companion who, in addition to her other ailments, became practically blind several years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Meese were united in marriage Jan. 13, 1884. In addition to the bereaved husband, Mrs. Meese is survived by four daughters and three sons, namely, Pearl, wife of John Brooks, Lakeville, N.Y.; Bessie, wife of Clyde Wagner, and Julia, wife of Hubert Wagner, both of Youngstown, Ohio; Carrie, wife of Michael Hady of Meyersdale; Gordon, Lee and Clay Meese of Youngstown, Ohio. Surviving also is one brother, Frank Albright of Masontown, Pa.; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Meese was a daughter of Jonathan and Julia Ann Hutzel Albright, and was born and reared in Meyersdale. Funeral services were held at the Meese home, Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. The services were conducted by Mrs. Meese's pastor, Rev. S. D. Sigler, of the local Lutheran church, of which denomination she became a member, at the age of 17 years. The burial was in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale, under the direction of W. C. Price & Son, Meyersdale morticians. Meyersdale Republican, October 29, 1942
