Meese, a highly esteemed citizen of Garrett County, Maryland, died in the Miner's Hospital, Frostburg, Md., Dec. 10, 1940, after being a medical patient there for a month. His death was caused by a cerebral embolysm. His age was 47 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was a son of Mrs. Mary (Wetmiller) Meese, and the late Daniel D. Meese, and is survived by his wife, Mary (Albright) Meese, and the following children: Mrs. Grace Paul of Garrett County, Md.; Glenn, Margaret, Merle, Nellie and Mary, at home. He is also survived by his mother and these brothers and sisters: Reed of Pocahontas, Pa., George of Frostburg, Md., Leroy, Samuel and Woodrow of Cohocton, N.Y., Mrs. Benjamin Deist of Friedens, Pa., Mrs. Robert Landis, residing in Elk Lick Township, Pa., Mrs. Carleton Layman of Frostburg, Md., and Mrs. William Kemp of Canton, Ohio. His funeral was held at the Greenville Lutheran Church, near Pocahontas, last Friday, at 10:30 a.m. The service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. D. Sigler, of Salisbury, and was largely attended. The burial was in the Greenville Cemetery, under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas, mortician, of Salisbury. Meyersdale Republican, December 19, 1940
