Mehrling, 93, rear 150 Plank Road, Somerset, died Dec. 7, 1989, at Somerset Hospital. Born Jan. 24, 1896, in Frederick, Md., son of Daniel and Annie (Railing) Mehrling. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, the former Doris Gonder, who died Feb. 26, 1966; and second wife, the former Edna (Gonder) Boyts, who died Aug. 7, 1988. Survived by daughter, Jeanne, wife of Dr. Ronald Uhl, Annapolis, Md.; son, the Rev. Dr. Benjamin P., married the former Mary Lou Robinson, Cambridge, Mass.; nine grandchildren and one great grandson. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset, since retirement in 1971. Also member of Columbia Lodge No. 58 A.F.& A.M., Frederick, Md., for almost 70 years. Attended Mercersburg Academy and Franklin and Marshall College. Graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary. Ordained minister since June 13, 1920. Pastored 51 years at the following churches: Sabillasville, Boswell-Jenner, Pottstown-Stowe, Incarnation-Newport, Zion's (Frostburg, Md.), Adamstown-Grace (Maryland) and Woodcock Valley. Army veteran of World War I and an Army chaplain during World War II. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell. Service at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Church, Somerset, where viewing will be from 9 a.m. until time of service, the Revs. Glenn E. Sadler and Dr. Benjamin P. Mehrling officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ's Good Samaritan Fund. Daily American, December 8, 1989 [M1053]
