  SHIRLEY AND ASHLEY MERRBACH
  
    Shirley Eloise Merrbach, 56, and her granddaughter, Ashley Nichole
  Merrbach, 3, both of Route 1 Grantsville, Md., died Saturday, Dec.
  18, 1993, as the result of an auto accident on I-68.
    Born June 24, 1937 at Oakland, Shirley was a daughter of the late
  Ford Q. and Dolores Virginia Fike Friend.
    She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Brethren. 
  She is survived by her husband, Henry T. Merrbach; one son, Robert R.
  Fike of Grantsville; one daughter, Shirley R. Merrbach of Grantsville;
  three brothers, Roger Friend of Friendsville, Md.; Wayne Friend of
  Mims, Fla.; and Dale Friend of Clearwater, Fla.; two sisters, Carolyn
  Dale of Silver Spring and Donna Turney of Accident; and four
  grandchildren.
    Ashley Nicole was born April 12, 1990 in Cumberland, Md.  She was
  the daughter of Michael Ray Wilt of Mt. Savage and Shirley Rosemarie
  Merrbach of Grantsville.  She is survived by her grandfather, Henry
  T. Merrbach of Grantsville; a half brother, Darren Wilt, and a half
  sister, Rhoda Wilt, both of Mt. Savage.
    Friends were received Monday at the Newman Funeral Home in
  Grantsville, where joint services were Tuesday with the Rev. Dale
  Curtis officiating.
    Interment was held in the Merrbach Cemetery, Grantsville.
