  MERRILL
  
    Charles F. Merrill, 81, Somerset Avenue, Rockwood, died Jan. 1,
  1997, at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  Born Nov. 4, 1915, in
  Meyersdale, son of the late Oscar and Mary (Sluss) Merrill.  Preceded
  in death by his wife, the former Margaret Elizabeth Platter, in 1985,
  and brother, James Merrill.  Survived by these children:  Mrs. George
  (Shirley) Henry, Rockwood RD 3; Bob Merrill, married to the former
  Joanne Brothers, Ephrata; Mrs. Paul (Sherry Lynn) Palmos, Oxford,
  Pa.; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  Brother of Mrs.
  Helen Strong, Mrs. Thelma Coleman and Mrs. Peggy Dwire, all of
  Somerset, and Edward Merrill, Las Vegas.  Member of the Rockwood
  Church of the Brethren.  Retired construction worker and a member of
  Laborers Local Union 1058 of Pittsburgh.  Friends will be received
  from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home,
  Rockwood, where funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m.
  Saturday, with the Rev. Jay Christner officiating.  Interment,
  Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.
