Merrill, 73, of RD 3, Rawlings, Md., died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1987, in Memorial Hospital. He was born May 31, 1914 in Merrill, the son of the late James and Mary D. (Hummell) Merrill. He was retired from Browning Foodland, Westernport, Md., where he had worked as produced manager. He is survived by his widow, Shirley E. (Ketterman) Merrill; five sons, Wayne F. Merrill, Cumberland, Md.; David K. Merrill, Easton, Tex.; Allen L. Merrill, at home; Steven D. Merrill and Paul E. Merrill, both of Richmond, Va.; four daughters, Mrs. Karen Shoemaker, Rawlings, Md.; Mrs. Kathy Broadwater, Richmond, Va.; Mrs. Wendy R. Orosco, Cumberland, Md.; and Miss Bonnie R. Merrill, at home; two brothers, James "Junior" Merrill, Cumberland, Md.; and Paul Merrill, Oakland, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Nira Brown, Salisbury; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. B. Spencer Brozozog. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park.
