  MERRINGER
  
  Paul Revere Merringer, 83, of Somerset died Dec. 31, 2001 at his
  residence.  Born Dec. 22, 1918 in Acosta, Jenner Township.  Son of
  Steven Samuel and Matilda Ann (Barndt) Merringer.  Preceded in death
  by parents, son Danny Paul Merringer, sisters, Edith Schenkemeyer and
  Mary Whitfield, and brothers Charles and Ray Merringer.  Survived by:
  wife, the former Ruth June Shaffer to whom he was married 59 years;
  son Billy Ray Merringer married to the former Joann Albright of
  Somerset; grandchildren, Danny R. Merringer and wife Melissa of
  Somerset, and Nicole Marie Merringer, and great-granddaughters,
  Brianna and Claudia Merringer.  Brother of Clark B. Merringer of
  Stoystown, Earl H. Merringer of Somerset, and Mrs. Daisy M. Derencin
  of Friedens.  Member of Bethany United Methodist Church.  A 1939
  graduate of Somerset High School.  U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of
  World War II.  Also member of VFW Post 554, FOE Aerie 1801, Jenner
  Rod and Gun Club, Ferndale Sportsmans Club and New Baltimore
  Sportsmans Club.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
  p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home.  Service will be
  conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church,
  Somerset, with the Rev. Barry K. Ritenour officiating.  Viewing at
  the church one hour prior to service.  Interment, Bethany Cemetery.
