MESSERSMITH Edgar Curtis Messersmith, 34, of Shippensburg RD 3, died April 14, 1979 at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md. He was a former resident of Cumberland, Md. Born in Cumberland, October 26, 1944, he was a son of Edgar C. and Isabelle M. (Fultz) Messersmith. He was employed by the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. He was a 1963 graduate of Allegany High School. He was a Vietnam veteran and had received the Purple Heart. He was a member of William D. Byron VFW Post 1936, Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion of Hagerstown, Mt. Rock Brethren in Christ Church, Hagerstown, and was president of the Homebuilders Sunday school class. Besides his parents, he also is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mabel Lorraine (Perkins) Messersmith; a son, Kurt William Messersmith, at home; a daughter, Michelle Lynn Messersmith, also at home; a sister, Mrs. Harold Lipscomb, Grantsville, Md.; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Marie A.
