Metheney, 83, Confluence, died Aug. 31, 2005, in Somerset Hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Humbert, a son of the late Charles R. and Bertha J. (Mitchell) Metheney. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Joseph; grandsons, Victor Ulderich Jr. and Randy Metheney; brothers, James and George; sisters, Ruth Metheney and Mildred Woods. He is survived by his wife Martha J. (Close) Metheney; sons, John, Markleton; Christopher, Greensburg; Ray Dean and Charles, both of Confluence; Larry Gower, Romney, W.Va.; and Thomas Gower, Augusta, W.Va.; and daughters, Sheila Ulderich, Confluence; and Kathy Blystone, Rockwood; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alvin Metheney, Confluence. He is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 363rd Infantry Division in Europe and retired from the Pennsylvania State Park Service, having worked at Laurel Ridge and Ohiopyle state parks. He was a lifetime member of the Confluence VFW Post 7250; Grantsville, Md., American Legion; and Confluence Volunteer Fire Department. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 13 years and was an avid hunter, bingo and card player. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Tim Show officiating.
