Metrinko, 84, Meyersdale, died Aug. 22, 2007, at her home. Born April 23, 1923, in Somerset. A daughter of the late Edgar and Anna (Sellers) Berkely. Also preceded in death by her husband Simeon "Sim" Metrinko. Survived by two children: John Metrinko and his wife, Christine, Okeechobee, Fla.; and Amy Metrinko, Export. Also two grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Metrinko. A sister of Shirley Huff, Harrisburg. A veteran of the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, where she served as a second lieutenant. She retired from the Salisbury-Elk Lick School District after 38 years of service as a school nurse. Helen was very active in her community. A member of the United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees, the Meyersdale Historical Society, Allegheny Trail Alliance "Rails-to-Trails," and was a key member of the local group that saved and revitalized the Western Maryland Railroad Station, which is part of The Great Allegheny Passage bike trail. Also a member of American Legion Post 112, Meyersdale. A celebration of life for Helen will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Meyersdale. The Rev. David Bowman and the Rev. Marlin Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may take the form of contributions to the United Methodist Church Window Fund, Main St., Meyersdale, PA 15552, or the "In Touch" Hospice, MedCor Professional Building, 223 S.
