Robert Metzger, 76, of Cove Lane Road, Roaring Spring RD, died Feb. 5, 2001 at his residence. Born on July 21, 1924 at Roaring Spring, the son of the late William and S. Ethel (Snyder) Metzger. He married Ruth E. Shoenfelt on June 7, 1946 at Roaring Spring. He is survived by his wife, daughter Lori Jo Conklin of Clearfield, and son Kerry R. Metzger, D.D.S. of New Philadelphia, Ohio. He is also survived by four grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Ethel Mae Wisler of Martinsburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, J. Melvin, and a sister Pauline Scottoline. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring. He was a former member of the Calvary Methodist Church, Somerset, where he served on the Trustee Board and the Administrative Board. He retired from New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. as a weighmaster on December 23, 1988. He was a 1943 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served on the USS Appalachian-AGC-1. He was a member of the Somerset Lodge #358 F&AM and the Harrisburg Consistory. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Roaring Spring, Rev. Charles Baughman officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg. Memorial contributions may be given to Nason Hospital-Hospice Unit, or the American Heart Association. Daily American, February 6, 2001 [M1194]
