Meyer III, 45, Major, U.S. Air Force (Retired), of Hampton, Va., formerly of Somerset passed on Aug. 13, 2001 at the Hampton Veterans' Medical Center. Born Jan. 26, 1956 in Pittsburgh. Son of William A. and Christina (Chambrello) Meyer Jr. of Somerset. Survived by parents, wife Mary (Pisane) Meyer of Hampton, Va.; sisters Kathleen, married to Dennis Unger of Somerset, Shirley "Chicki," married to Dale Zwick of Johnstown, Nancy, married to Ed Rose of Somerset, Jean, married to Barry Hemminger of Somerset and Joan married to John Hogan of Harleysville; and brother Michael Meyer of Pittsburgh. Also 19 nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Somerset Area High School, Mercersburg Academy, Ohio University, and received his Master's degree at West Virginia University. He was a retired Major in the U.S. Air Force and was employed by the City of Hampton, Va. in the Planning Department. He was a member of St. Kateri Tekakwithe Roman Catholic Church in Hampton. He was a three-year letter winner in football, wrestling, and baseball at Somerset High School and was the catcher for the 1971 State Champion Senior League All-Star Team. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Church in Somerset, Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli, Celebrant. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
